Ruby was one of the first children thrown into the Gingerbread House Project, and that was partly because her mother was one of the researchers and wanted to hone her daughter's already apparent aggression into something that could be used and manipulated.

Ruby had a natural affinity for (and fascination with) bladed weapons, and this was something that was worked heavily into her training. Dirks and throwing knives are her specialty, but she can handle a cutlass or a rapier just fine, and she's actually a pretty good shot with a tomahawk or a hatchet.

Ruby has something of a bloodthirsty streak, she's maybe a little feral, and she'll occasionally get in a fight for the joy of fighting, but she's also fiercely loyal to anyone she considers 'hers', loyal enough and protective enough to save them from the wolves, whatever form those wolves happen to take. She tends to be the first one into the fray, the first one to attack and the last one to let go when it the fight is over.

Her particular power set is preternatural senses/speed/agility, she can track any of the others from the program by scent alone. It's rare to see her without a hoodie or a hooded jacket, when feeling threatened or unsure she pulls it up, because in the story the hood protected her from danger.

In the ten years since the project was disbanded, Red has found herself in any number of jobs, she was a cage fighter for a short time, and most recently she's fallen into bartending, because she likes it, and because it surprises people when the scrawny thing slinging the drinks ousts the problem customers right out into the parking lot.
